Jean Hynes is chief executive officer, managing partner, and a portfolio manager for Wellington Management, one of the world’s largest independent investment management firms. She is the fifth CEO in Wellington Management’s history, which dates back to 1928, and the first woman to hold this role. Jean oversees over 3,000 employees in 16 offices across North America, Europe, and APAC. She is also one of the firm’s three managing partners, responsible for governance of the Wellington Management partnership. Additionally, she serves as portfolio manager for the firm’s health care team, including the Vanguard Health Care Fund, one of the world’s largest dedicated health care funds, which she has managed since 2013. Jean is one of five female CEOs among the top 20 asset management firms and is the recipient of numerous industry awards, including Barron’s 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance and 100 Women in Finance’s North American Industry Leadership Award. Jean earned a BA in economics from Wellesley College. She is a member of the Investment Committee at Wellesley College, Notre Dame’s Wall Street Leadership Committee, and the global Business Council and serves on board of The Massachusetts Competitive Partnership. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston.
