Milken Institute Scales Up Engagement with Africa Through New Business Council
The Milken Institute's Africa strategy focuses on fostering resilient, inclusive economies led by African entrepreneurs and investors that can help realize the continent’s brightest future. Among other initiatives, we are building the next generation of leaders in financial policy and asset management; catalyzing technological innovation and entrepreneurship; and fostering policy and investor dialogue to help advance sustainability, health, and shared prosperity in Africa.
Leveraging Finance and Innovation for a Resilient, Prosperous Africa
We work with governments to train, inform, and empower the next generation of financial policymakers and public-sector fund managers who can effectively drive financial market reforms and foster shared prosperity for all.
Financial Innovations Labs® tackle funding gaps around specific economic development issues by holding a microscope to the problems and analyzing them from every angle.
This program is a series of multiyear, multimillion-dollar innovation competitions and awards harnessing Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to advance technological solutions toward the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Africa.
Milken Institute Health bridges innovation gaps across the health and health-care continuum. We advance whole-person health throughout the life span by improving healthy aging, public health, biomedical science, and food systems.

Robust financial markets play a crucial role in supporting private-sector-led growth, job creation, financial security, and the sustainable funding of national development priorities. Through two flagship training programs, we work with governments to train, inform, and empower the next generation of financial policymakers and public-sector fund managers who can effectively drive financial market reforms and foster shared prosperity for all. This work is made possible by a generous group of program supporters and internship providers.
