Chery Kang is a Correspondent for CNBC Asia Pacific. She is based in Hong Kong and covers Asia-Pacific business news across all CNBC programming. Chery has covered some of the region’s biggest news events such as the 2017 North Korea missile crisis, impeachment of former South Korean President Park Geun-hye, Trump-Kim Summits in Singapore and Hanoi, the arrest of Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn scandal in 2018 and the 2019 Hong Kong protests. Chery has interviewed some of South Korea’s influential leaders including Deputy Prime Minister Kyungho Choo, Bank of Korea Governor Rhee Chang Yong, Hyundai Motor CEO Jaehoon Chang, Korean Air Chairman Walter Cho, and SM Entertainment Chairman Lee Soo-man. Chery graduated from the HKUST-NYU Stern Masters of Science in Global Finance (Class of 2018) and Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul with a degree in International Studies. Chery is fluent in English and Korean.
