Cynthia Wu was a Vice-Presidential candidate in Taiwan's 8th National Election and served as a Legislator for the Taiwan People’s Party. During her legislative tenure, she was co-chair the Committee on Health, Environment and Labor and led key legislative initiatives in digital health, AI and green finance. Prior to her political career, she was a business executive with experience in strategy, marketing and finance. She worked for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM) in the U.K. and the Shin Kong Group (SK) in Taiwan. As a SVP at Shin Kong Life Insurance, she created new departments focused on digital transformation and strategic partnerships, driving business growth in ASEAN markets. Cynthia is currently the Chairperson of the Shin Kong Life Foundation (SKLF), founded by her late-grandfather, which runs programs in conservation, humanitarian aid, women’s health, and oral history. She holds an MA in Art History from the Courtauld Institute of Art and a BA in International Relations and Art History from Wellesley College. She is fluent in Mandarin, Hokkien and English and proficient in French and Japanese, and was selected as a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum and formerly a member of Milken Institute Young Leaders Circle.
