James Shin is the President of Film & TV at HYBE America, a division of HYBE (behind global artists BTS, Le Sserafim), with US and international ventures at the intersection of music, film, technology, brands, culture, and social good. Shin spearheads all content development and production, bolstering synergistic opportunities across platforms, genres, and mediums including film, TV, new and interactive media, and theater. Recently, Shin worked on Netflix’s series Pop Star Academy: Katseye, and the upcoming film Child Star for Hulu. Shin also partnered global artist NewJeans with IP Powerpuff Girls in a historic east-west collaboration. Shin served as executive producer on one of FX’s most watched comedy series Dave, recently featuring Brad Pitt, and the reggaeton scripted series Neon for Netflix. Shin also produced Netflix’s Ariana Grande film Excuse Me, I Love You, YouTube’s Justin Bieber: Seasons and Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil, and Amazon's The Boy From Medellin with Academy Award-nominated Matthew Heineman. Currently, Shin is ramping up projects such as K-Pop Superstar for Paramount Pictures, Tuna Melt from Eddie Huang starring SZA, Wonder Boy about Zappos founder Tony Hsieh, and Phantom written by Anthony McCarten (Bohemian Rhapsody), among others.Previously, Shin was a development executive at Sony TriStar Pictures (Baby Driver), and a music executive at Sony Television (Breaking Bad). Shin holds an A.B. from Princeton University and M.B.A. from UCLA’s Anderson School. Shin was named a Variety Magazine New Leader.
