Toshiyuki Kumura

Member of the Board, Chief Investment Officer, Japan Investment Corporation

In 2019, Toshi was appointed as the Director and Chief Investment Officer at JIC, where he leads the formulation of investment strategies for group companies conducting direct investments, as well as the formation and execution of investment strategies for JIC’s LP investments in private funds. Since JIC began its investment activities in 2020, JIC has committed over 1.6 trillion yen to approximately 40 private funds and 4 affiliate funds. Since 1997, during his tenure at Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance, he have been involved in domestic and international VC/Buyout fund investments. From 2002, at Tokio Marine Asset Management, he led discretionary investment services related to PE fund investments and the management of FoFs for institutional clients as the Head of PE Investments. In the early 2000s, when there were few LPs engaging in PE fund investments, he became one of the founding members of the LP Working Group, conducting educational and awareness activities for LPs.He earned his Master of International Business degree from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Tokyo. He holds a Certified Member Analyst of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan (CMA).
