Vijay Iyengar is the founder & chairman of Agrocorp International, specialising in the sale of staple food products such as wheat, pulses and sugar to leading food manufacturers in the Asia Pacific & Middle Eastern regions. Headquartered in Singapore, Agrocorp started trading agri-commodities in 1990 and has since grown to achieve over USD3 billion in turnover, handling more than 30 agri-commodity products across 50 countries. Agrocorp is also one of the leading traders of pulses in the world & operates plants in Australia, Canada & the US that process pulses into value-added products like protein and starches. The company recently launched its plant-based ingredients business and plant-based food brand, HerbYvore, all part of its vision to better nourish a changing world through responsible & sustainable sourcing and food production. Vijay is currently serving as the President of the Global Pulse Confederation (GPC), an organization that represents all segments of the pulse industry value chain. In line with Agrocorp's commitment to food security & sustainability, Vijay actively promotes sustainable food systems through his involvement in GPC events & campaigns like "Beans is How" & “World Pulses Day”. At COP-28, representing Agrocorp and the GPC, Vijay played a pivotal role in securing representation for pulses. Vijay holds a bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (Bombay) and an MBA from Cornell Univ. In March 2022, he was conferred the Distinguished alumni award by IIT Bombay and recently honored by SICCI with an Exemplary Service Award.
