Brian Baumhover is the Senior Managing Director of Growth with the UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust (RMBT). Brian has 30 years of professional experience leading a wide variety of teams. Mr. Baumhover is a member of an investment team formed in 2012 (joined in 2014) to manage a $60 billion portfolio for the UAW RMBT. He has been a leader in driving the mandate to build a significant allocation to the Growth portfolio. Private asset class responsibility includes public and private real estate, private equity, energy, agriculture, timber, infrastructure, intellectual property, and other real assets. Before joining UAW RMBT, Brian was the portfolio manager for the Other Real Assets portfolio at Texas Teachers Retirement System in Austin TX. At Texas Teachers he was responsible for strategic planning, asset allocation, underwriting, valuation and management for the portfolio of infrastructure, agriculture and energy assets. During the five years at TRS the Other Real Assets portfolio grew from $0 to $2.1 billion of asset value. Prior to joining Texas Teachers, Brian was an F/A-18 Pilot in the United States Navy. After multiple deployments, Mr. Baumhover left the Navy with the rank of LCDR, over two thousand flight hours and 431 arrestments. Mr. Baumhover has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
