Carla D. Chugani, Ph.D., LPC is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine. Dr. Chugani is a leading expert in the adaptation of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for college counseling centers. Her research is focused on the intersections of mental health, emerging adulthood, and education. Dr. Chugani's current research includes a multi-site trial investigating the effectiveness of a college course designed to teach students evidence-based skills for mental health and wellness, a pilot trial investigating the acceptability and feasibility of integrating evidence-based skills for mental health into standard high school health class curriculum, and a mixed-methods study aiming to improve alcohol and sexual violence prevention programming for college students with disabilities. Dr. Chugani is also a clinical expert in the practice of DBT and a Linehan Board Certified DBT Clinician. She has previous training as a college counselor and obtained a degree in opera performance prior to her clinical and research education.
