Eva Wang is the Director of Bioinformatics at the Gladstone Institutes. Eva has over 15 years of academic and industrial experience focused on the intersection of computer science, biology and statistical learning for large-scale data mining used in translational research and development of clinical applications for molecular diagnostics and therapeutics. In her current role, Eva leads a team of cross-disciplinary data scientists to bring cutting edge computational capabilities to the Gladstone scientific community. She also initiated and established a data science workshop and training program specifically designed for biologists and open to Bay Area’s scientific community. Prior to Gladstone, she has held various leadership positions at four successful bio-tech startup companies with responsibilities spanning from bioinformatics, biostatistics, software/IT to product development, and business development. During the early years of her career, she worked at Affymetrix leading microarray design and the splice variant projects. Eva holds a PhD in computer science/machine learning from UC Santa Cruz, and an MBA in management and finance from the Wharton School.
