Dr. Mallory Williams is Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Trauma & Critical Care at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC. He is a cum laude graduate of Morehouse College and completed his doctorate in medicine from the University of Maryland. He trained in general surgery at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center and completed his Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. He is Chair-Elect of the Surgical Section of the National Medical Association. Dr. Williams is deeply engaged in issues of social justice that impact disadvantaged communities in the world. He serves on the Gun Violence Task Force of the NMA and participated in the American College of Surgeons Firearm Summit. He is a co-author of both the NMA's and Society of Black Academic Surgeons' position papers on violence in the Black community. Dr. Williams is the PI of the Office of Victim Service Grant evaluating violence experienced by males. Dr. Williams is the Trauma Medical Director of the Howard University Hospital Level I Trauma Center where he envisions a unique role for community engagement as an essential element of quality trauma care and prevention.
