Sokol Shtylla is a director at the Milken Institute Center for Strategic Philanthropy where he partners with individual philanthropists, families, and foundations to develop and implement effective philanthropic strategies and conduct due diligence of philanthropic investments. He leads the Center’s work to design a community of strategic philanthropists to foster collective learning and partnerships in order to increase the impact of philanthropic efforts. Before joining the Institute, Sokol was the Chief Operating Officer of Swanee Hunt Alternatives, a two-generation family operating foundation which has dedicated more than $130 million to advance social change nationally and globally. As a management consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton, he’s also advised government and non-profit clients on strategy and performance management, organizational assessments and change management, and customer service strategy. Sokol holds a master of science in international business and finance from Georgetown University’s Graduate School of Foreign Service. He received a bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations with high honors from Marlboro College in Vermont.
