Michaela Kearney is an outpatient psychiatric nurse practitioner in Boston, MA, specializing in young adults and the impact of race on mental health. At a young age, Michaela discovered her older brother after he had committed suicide, causing the development of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. As a result of healing from this tragedy, Michaela became invested in mental health. By utilizing her lived and learned experience, Michaela works to educate and normalize the conversation surrounding mental health. She serves as the Vice President of the Junior Board of Directors of the Quell Foundation, a non-profit mental health organization, and is a subject in their award-winning documentary. She has also participated in a number of speaking engagements on mental health, including the 2020 RI Black Film Festival and volunteers for CHR, a community based mental health organization.
