Strive Masiyiwa is the Founder and Executive Chairman of the Econet Group, an international technology group, and one of the early pioneers of the mobile telecoms industry in Africa. Masiyiwa serves on several international boards including Unilever Plc, National Geographic Society, Asia Society, and the Global Advisory boards of Bank of America, the Council on Foreign Relations (in the US), the Prince of Wales Trust for Africa, and Stanford University. He also serves on the US Holocaust Museum Committee on Conscience, the AU Reform Task Force and the UN Global Commission for Adaptation, focusing on climate change challenges. In 2020, Masiyiwa was appointed to serve as a Special Envoy to the African Union for COVID response, where he now coordinates Africa private sector efforts to procure medical supplies to help fight the spread of COVID-19. He had earlier led a similar initiative to fight Ebola in West Africa in 2014-2015. A former board member of the Rockefeller Foundation for 15 years, he is Chairman Emeritus of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) and co-founder of the Generation Africa Agripreneur Prize.
