John F. Crowley is the Executive Chairman and founding CEO of Amicus Therapeutics, a biotechnology company focused on the development of treatments for rare genetic diseases. Crowley also serves as Vice Chair of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO). Crowley’s involvement with biotechnology stems from the 1998 diagnosis of two of his children with Pompe disease—a severe and often fatal neuromuscular disorder. In his drive to find a cure, he became an entrepreneur as the Co-founder, President and CEO of Novazyme Pharmaceuticals, which he credits as ultimately saving his children’s lives. The 2010 movie, Extraordinary Measures, is inspired by the Crowley family journey. Crowley served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve from 2005-2016, and is a veteran of the global war on terrorism. He holds a B.S. from Georgetown University, a J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Notre Dame awarded Crowley with a Doctor of Laws Degree and the Family Exemplar Award. He is the former National Chairman of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute and is a member of the Horatio Alger Association.
