Sandy Balkin is SVP Strategy and Analytics at Royalty Pharma, where he leads a multidisciplinary team that uses data to find and evaluate investment opportunities. He joined Royalty Pharma after serving as the Managing Director and Head of the Data Science and Engineering research team at Truist Securities, where he integrated data science, machine learning and alternative data into quantamental investment research. He has also established and directed advanced business analytics functions at leading pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Sanofi.Sandy holds a Ph.D. and a M.A. in Statistics from Penn State University, as well as a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics and Music from Lafayette College, where he graduated with honors. He is an adjunct faculty member at New York University and Columbia University, teaching courses on data science and business analytics.
