Deputy Assistant to the President for the Cancer Moonshot; Deputy Director for Health Outcomes, OSTP, The White House

Danielle Carnival, Ph.D. is Deputy Assistant to the President for the Biden Cancer Moonshot and Deputy Director for Health Outcomes in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. She leads efforts to improve health outcomes for the American people, including leading the Biden Cancer Moonshot to realize the President and First Lady’s goal to end cancer as we know it. In addition to coordinating the Cancer Cabinet to deliver Biden-Harris Administration actions to prevent, detect, treat, care and boost support for families facing cancer, Danielle leads a team that works with private companies and organizations to develop commitments to cut the cancer death rate in half and improve the experience of living with and surviving cancer. As CEO of I AM ALS from 2018-2021, Dr. Carnival led this patient-driven community that is reshaping public understanding of ALS, providing key resources to the community, and creating opportunities for patients to lead the fight against ALS and the drive for cures. Prior, Danielle was Vice President of the Biden Cancer Initiative. From 2010 to 2017, Dr. Carnival worked at the White House, including leadership roles for the President and Vice President on some of their signature initiatives and events, including the White House Cancer Moonshot, White House Science Fairs, College Opportunity Days of Action, and Computer Science for All and Diversity in STEM initiatives. Danielle earned her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Georgetown University, and B.S. in Biochemistry from Boston College.
