Dr. Julie Louise Gerberding is President and CEO of the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH), a non-profit organization that builds large public-private-patient pre-competitive research partnerships to address important medical challenges in support of the NIH mission. She also co-chairs the CSIS Bipartisan Alliance for Global Health Security. Dr. Gerberding served as President of Merck Vaccines and as Executive Vice President and Chief Patient Officer at Merck & Co., Inc. From 2003-2009, she directed the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. Gerberding is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and the adjunct faculties of the University of California, San Francisco, and Case Western Reserve University. Her current board service includes Mayo Clinic, Case Western Reserve University, Research!America, National Health Council, HilleVax, and Artidis.
