Julian is global head of Goldman Sachs Asset Management and a member of the firm’s Management Committee and co-chair of the Firmwide Investment Policy Committee. Julian is also co-chair of the Asset Management Investment committees, including those for private equity, infrastructure, growth equity, credit and real estate. Prior to assuming his current role, Julian was global head of the Merchant Banking Division. Prior to that, he was head of the Global Special Situations Group, and since joining the SSG business at its founding in 2003, he spent time working across New York, London and Moscow. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1998, and was named managing director in 2005 and partner in 2008. Prior to joining the firm, Julian worked in the audit practice of KPMG. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He serves on the Board of Trustees of The Nightingale-Bamford School and St. Bernard's School and is a member of the Board of Directors of Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), an organization which has made a lifetime of achievement possible for more than 19,000 talented young people from underserved and underrepresented communities since its founding in 1963. Julian earned a BSc in Sports Science and an MSc in Biomechanics from Loughborough University.
