Eric Kaplan is a Senior Advisor to the Milken Institute, having previously served as Director of the Milken Institute Center for Financial Markets Housing Finance Program. Primarily focusing on the health, sustainability, and reform of the US housing and mortgage finance ecosystem, Eric regularly engages and advises policymakers, industry participants, consumer advocates, nonprofits, and other stakeholders on a wide range of issues. Eric recently completed a two-year appointed term on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Consumer Advisory Board, serving as Chair from October 2020 – September 2021. He currently serves as an Independent Director on the Kroll Bond Rating Agency board of directors, as Chair of the Fixed Income Investor Network RMBS Task Force, and as a senior advisory board member of the Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO). Eric brings over 28 years of housing and mortgage experience across a variety of finance, legal, policy, and operational roles, and previously served on the board of directors of the Structured Finance Association and MISMO. He is known as a leading advocate for best practices to facilitate the re-emergence of private capital as a safe, scalable, and accessible source of home financing. Eric holds an AB in Politics from Princeton University and a JD from Boston University School of Law.
