James Li

Chairman and CEO, E. J. McKay & Co.

James Z. Li is the founder and CEO of the E. J. McKay Group, a leading Chinese investment bank active in cross-border M&A and corporate finance transactions. He is also the Chairman of Unistone Capital, the principal investment arm of E. J. McKay. James holds an AB with honors in Economics from Harvard University, an MSc. in Industrial Relations from Oxford, and an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago. Prior to founding E. J. McKay, he was an investment banker with Merrill Lynch in New York, Tokyo, and Hong Kong, a consultant with McKinsey in Shanghai, and the founder CEO of an internet startup based in Palo Alto. James has taught at London Business School, Oxford University, Tsinghua University, and Zhejiang University. He is a Jade Connector of the Asia Society Zurich, a mentor at the Schwarzman College, and at CKGSB, and is the benefactor of multiple endowed scholarships at Harvard University and Dartmouth College. James is the Secretary General of the Harvard Club of South China, where he is the Schools & Scholarship Committee Chair, he is also a Trustee of the Dandelion School in Beijing, a middle school for the children of migrant workers.
