Mr. Solomon is the Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Cowen, a publicly-traded global diversified financial services company that is more than 100 years old. Mr. Solomon is also Vice Chair and an inaugural member of the SEC’s Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee, which provides advice and recommendations on Commission rules, regulations, and policy matters related to small businesses. He also serves on the Board of the American Securities Association. Previously, Mr. Solomon was a member of the Committee on Capital Markets Regulation, an independent and nonpartisan 501(c)(3) research organization dedicated to improving the regulation of US capital markets. He was also the co-chair of the Equity Capital Formation Task Force, a group of individuals from across the country’s startup and small-capitalization company ecosystems advocating for market structure reform to encourage job creation and growth. Mr. Solomon has testified before Congress on matters relating to capital formation and market structure and was influential in advising members of Congress on the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act, which became law in 2012. Mr. Solomon graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1988 with a BA in Economics.
