Tony Ressler is chairman and CEO of Ares Management GP LLC, which has $79 billion in assets under management. Founded in 1997, Ares has about 730 employees in the U.S., Europe and Asia/Australia. Before co-founding Ares, Ressler co-founded Apollo Management LP in 1990. He oversaw and led Apollo's capital markets activities until 1997, focusing on high-yield bonds, leveraged loans, distressed debt and other fixed-income assets. Prior to Apollo, Ressler served as a senior vice president in the high-yield bond department of Drexel Burnham Lambert Inc. He is a board member of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Georgetown University and the executive committee of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He is also a founding board member of the Alliance for College Ready Public Schools, a group of 26 charter high schools and middle schools based in Los Angeles. Ressler received his B.S.F.S. from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and earned an MBA from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business.
