Andrew S. Weiss is the James Family Chair and Vice President for Studies at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, DC. In this role, he has also overseen the Carnegie Moscow Center, which was forced to close in early 2022, and the recent launch of the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center in Berlin. He previously served in various policy roles at the U.S. National Security Council, the U.S. Department of State, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense under both Democratic and Republican administrations. His graphic novel Accidental Czar: the Life and Lies of Vladimir Putin was published by Macmillan/First Second in 2022.
