Bilha is the founder CEO of Great Carbon Valley, a systems intergrator company, developing renewable energy hubs to accelerate technical carbon removals and green manufacturing in East Africa. Bilha is also the co-founder of Jacob’s Ladder Africa, a non-profit increasing youth participation in the green economy, with the goal of activating 30 million jobs in Africa over the next ten years. In her prior role as the CEO of the African Leadership Academy, Bilha worked on, among other things, pathways to enable young leaders to solve key leadership challenges facing the continent. Formerly, Bilha was the CEO of Africa’s Talking, a communications technology company. Over seven years, Bilha expanded Africa’s Talking into 20 markets on the continent. In the role, she also supported the growth of several early-stage tech startups. Bilha previously worked at Dalberg, where she advised governments, corporations, and foundations across the continent on solutions to African challenges. Bilha has been recognized on the Choiseul100 Africa 2022 ranking, is a Desmond Tutu Fellow and was awarded the Woman of Firsts- Excellence in Education Award by CMMI. Bilha holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Economics from MIT. She is a Yale Emerging Climate Leaders Fellow.
