Michael Buchman

Chief Investment Officer and Vice President, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation

Michael Buchman serves as the Chief Investment Officer for the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and manages its investment team and portfolio. International hotelier Conrad N. Hilton established the grantmaking foundation that bears his name in 1944 to help people living in poverty and experiencing disadvantage worldwide. The Foundation has awarded grants to date totaling more than $2 billion. Buchman leads the Foundation’s 13-person investment team, managing approximately $7 billion, and oversees its asset allocation, investment strategy, and manager selection. The portfolio seeks to provide returns to support the current and future needs of the Foundation by taking a long-term view toward investments building long-term partnerships with external money managers on a global basis across different asset classes. Prior to joining the Hilton Foundation, Buchman worked in the areas of finance, real estate, and law at Broadway Partners, Citigroup Global Investment Bank, and the law firms of Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson, and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom. Buchman received a juris doctorate degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a Master of Business Administration degree, and a bachelor’s degree in economics, both from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
