Mr. Otaigo Elisha is a qualified (MSc) professional in Natural Resource and Environmental Economics from IPB University in Indonesia. He is a co-founder of NovFeed, a startup that employs innovative bio-factories to convert organic waste into high-protein fish feed. Otaigo has numerous years of work experience in aquaculture, bio-waste value addition, bio-feeds, agriculture value chain, and ecosystem services valuation. Otaigo has a strong history in business development for agricultural youth programs. Over the course of his career, Otaigo has conducted, coordinated, led, and facilitated entrepreneurship and business planning capacity building for over 200 young people. Otaigo has spent the last eight years working on the agriculture value chain as an expert to support donor-funded initiatives and industry investments, and his background includes work with the Government of Tanzania as a district economist and project coordinator of the PS3 project, IITA, and USAID. Currently, Otaigo also serves as the Chairperson of the Young Africans Leadership Initiative (YALI) Tanzania chapter. His wealth of experience in these roles has given Otaigo a deep understanding of Tanzania's environmental pressures and the challenges facing the country's agricultural sector.
