Renee Montgomery graduated from UConn as a 2x All-American and played on an undefeated team that went on to win the 2009 NCAA title. She was drafted 4th overall in the WNBA and is a 2x WNBA champion, All-Star & 6th Woman of the Year, spanning an 11-year professional basketball career. In 2020, Montgomery decided to sit out her WNBA season to focus on social justice reform. Montgomery retired in February 2021 and later that month, she became the co-owner and Vice President of the team she was playing for, the Atlanta Dream, making her the first player in WNBA history to become owner and executive in the WNBA.
