Alyssa Rieder

Chief Investment Officer, CommonSpirit Health

Alyssa Rieder is the Chief Investment Officer of CommonSpirit Health with day-to-day lead management of the organization’s 19 person investment team and $40+ billion investment program. With facilities in 24 states and more than 20% of the U.S. population in its service area, CommonSpirit Health is one of the country's largest nonprofit health care systems and provides more than $5 billion of charity care and community benefit annually. The investment program is comprised of operating assets, retirement assets, self-insurance assets and foundation assets and investments are made across a diversified set of asset classes, strategies, and investment managers. Prior to joining CommonSpirit Health in 2011, Alyssa spent three years at the Office of the Treasurer of the Regents of the University of California system. Before joining U.C., Alyssa worked for ten years at Franklin Templeton Investments as the lead Portfolio Manager on a mutual fund as well as a Research Analyst and Sector Team Leader for Financial Services. Prior to graduate school, Alyssa worked in management consulting and was the CFO/COO of a bay area social service agency. Alyssa holds an M.B.A. from the Stanford GSB where she was an Arjay Miller Scholar, and a B.A. in Quantitative Economics with honors from Stanford University. She is a member of the CFA Society of San Francisco, the CFA Institute, and the CIPM Association and holds an FSA credential. Alyssa is a trustee for Sempra’s Nuclear Decommissioning Trust and has held board positions at TIFF Advisory Services and Castilleja School.
