Three Cairns is a mission-driven investment and philanthropic firm focused on the climate crisis. Three Cairns is currently focused on three main philanthropic initiatives: Allied Climate Partners (ACP), Allied Talent Partners (ATP), and the Global Carbon Market Utility (GCMU). Mark served at the U.S. State Department as an Expert Senior Advisor to John Kerry, on President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness (2010-2012), and on the President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board (2008-2010). Mark retired from Centerbridge Partners in 2020, an investment firm he co-founded with over $30 billion of assets under management. Mark’s 35-year career in investing and finance included serving as Global Head of Private Equity at The Blackstone Group. Mark earned his BA from the University of Notre Dame and MBA from Columbia University. Mark serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees at Columbia University and on the Board of Advisors at the Columbia Climate School.
