He is 44 years old. He has a law degree with a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, Arizona and a master's degree in Political Management and Strategic Governance from George Washington University. He is an entrepreneur in the restaurant industry. He worked as a development agent for Subway International. He was a Local Congressman for the fourth district in 2012 and in 2015 he was elected Mayor of Merida. In 2018 he was elected Governor of the State of Yucatan for the 2018-2024 term, a position he has held since October 1st, 2018. In March 2022, he was appointed Chairman of the Governors ́ Climate and Forests (GCF) Task Force in the framework of the 12th Annual Meeting held in Manaus, Brazil. In October 2023, he was appointed President of the National Conference of Governors (CONAGO). He was invited to the 2024 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum. He participated in high-level dialogues such as the Panel Catalyzing the Mangrove Breakthrough, Country Strategy Dialogue on Mexico and a discussion on the potential and role of generative AI in transforming governments and economies.
