Ryan Lakin was appointed Divisional Vice President of Digital Solutions for Medical Devices in August 2022. He joined Abbott in 2018 as Divisional Vice President, Product Development for Neuromodulation. Mr. Lakin is responsible for leading Digital Solutions for Abbott’s Medical Devices business. He is leading Integrated Heart Failure Solutions and the digital transformation across Medical Devices including the digital solutions vision and strategy. He is on the external advisory board for the Department of Bioengineering at Rice University, the Abbott Executive Business Owner for Prairie View A&M, a historically black college in Texas, and executive sponsor with EvoNexus, a San Diego based incubator. Ryan has dedicated his career of 25 years to improving the lives of people globally by developing and commercializing a broad set of accessible products. This includes NeuroSphere™ Virtual Clinic, a remote neuromodulation programming solution, that was selected as a 2021 best innovation by TIME magazine. Prior to Abbott, he held roles of increasing responsibility at Becton Dickinson (BD), Zimmer Biomet, and Shriners Hospitals for Children. He has received executive education from Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management and Stanford University. Ryan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering from Syracuse University and his Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Kentucky.
