Mr. Theodore L. Koenig is the Chairman, CEO and Founder of Monroe Capital LLC. He also serves as the Chairman, President and CEO of Monroe Capital Corporation (NASDAQ: MRCC), a publicly traded business development company and as Chairman, Director and CEO of Monroe Capital Income Plus Corporation. Mr. Koenig has over 30 years of experience in structuring, negotiating and closing transactions on behalf of asset-based lenders, commercial finance companies, financial institutions and private equity investors. Prior to founding Monroe in 2004, Mr. Koenig was President and CEO of Hilco Capital LP, a junior secured/mezzanine debt fund established in 2000. Mr. Koenig spent the previous 13 years at the Chicago-based law firm of Holleb & Coff as partner and co-chair of the firm’s Corporate Law, Mergers & Acquisitions and Business Finance groups. Mr. Koenig earned his J.D. with Honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law and his B.S. in Accounting with High Honors from Indiana University Kelley School of Business. He also successfully passed the Certified Public Accounting Exam. Mr. Koenig is a Director of the Secured Finance Network (SFNet) and a member of the Turnaround Management Association and the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG). Mr. Koenig also serves as Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of HOPE Chicago; Board of Trustees, Naples Children & Education Foundation; a Director on the Northwestern Medical Group Board of Directors and the Northwestern Medical HealthCare Investment Committee; Board of Trustees, Illinois Institute of Technology; Dean’s Advisory Council, Kelley School of Business at Indiana University; and the Board of Advisors, Chicago-Kent College of Law. Mr. Koenig’s leadership in the M&A and private equity industries has led to wide recognition, including receiving the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award from the ACG - Midwest Division and 30 Top Changemakers recognition by Private Debt Investor. He received the SFNet Hall of Fame 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award; the Leadership Achievement Award by The Global M&A in 2016; inducted in the Academy of Alumni Fellows of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University; the Stanley C. Golder Award in 2013 by the Illinois Venture Capital Association and named the 2012 Middle Market Thought Leader of the Year by The Alliance of Mergers & Acquisitions Advisors and Grant Thornton LLP.
