Zoë Slattery

Engineering Project Manager, Smart Villages

Zoë Slattery is an accomplished engineer and development practitioner dedicated to shaping a more sustainable and equitable future. Zoë currently works with Smart Villages, a leading organisation focused on catalysing sustainable development through energy access in communities across the Global South. At Smart Villages, Zoë leads the transformative 'Smart Agri-Centres' solution in Uganda, integrating renewable energy and agriculture to uplift livelihoods and empower farmers throughout East Africa in a sustainable way. This ground-breaking initiative, which has been recognised as a finalist in the prestigious Milken-Motsepe prize, epitomises Zoë's commitment to driving positive, sustainable change at scale. Zoë brings a unique blend of technical expertise, cultural awareness and social consciousness to her work, having worked on large-scale engineering and community development projects in multiple countries throughout East Africa. She holds a Master's degree in Engineering for Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge and a Master's degree in Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London. Zoë will speak at the Milken Institute Global Conference to contribute her insights on Smart Agri-Centres and the intersection of finance, philanthropy, engineering and sustainable development.
