Carolee Lee

Founder and CEO, Women's Health Access Matters (WHAM), TIME100 Global Health Leader

Carolee Lee is an innovative trailblazer dedicated to transforming the health of women. In 2020, she founded WHAM (Women’s Health Access Matters), a nonprofit focused on increasing awareness of the unique health challenges women face and investing in women’s health through data-driven strategies to accelerate scientific discovery and quantify economic impact. As an entrepreneurial thinker, Carolee believes convening thought leaders across sectors is essential to creating sustainable change. In 2024, TIME named her one of the 100 Most Influential Leaders in Global Health for reframing women’s health as both a scientific and economic imperative. Under her leadership, WHAM collaborates with leading partners including the Connors Center at Brigham/Harvard, RAND Corporation, American Heart Association, and Northwell Health. In 2025, WHAM released a landmark report with KPMG and the KPMG Foundation, “The Business Case for Accelerating Women’s Health Investment.”Prior to WHAM, Carolee was a creative force in the fashion world, building a global brand that was successfully acquired by Luxottica in 2001.Carolee has served on numerous prestigious boards and currently sits on those of the La Jolla Institute for Immunology, The Women’s Health Advisory Board, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the Leadership Board at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. She previously served on the boards of DSW, the Museum of Arts and Design, and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. She also held leadership roles at The Committee of 200, including Chair and Chair of its Foundation.
