
R. David Andrews is the Founder and Co-CEO of Gryphon Investors, a San Francisco-based, middle-market private equity (“PE”) firm. Founded in 1995, Gryphon currently has three fund strategies and ~$10bn AUM. Within PE, Gryphon is widely recognized as being a true pioneer in building an in-house operations group, consisting of former operating company CEOs/Presidents and functional specialists, including the discipline of organizational development. Gryphon’s unique full integration of specialized deal and operations experts, which begins at origination and extends across the entire deal life cycle, has resulted in consistent top-quartile returns generated by exceptional alpha, as determined by Duff & Phelps and other third-party research firms. Gryphon has maintained a zero percent loss ratio on all platform company commitments since 2008 and achieved seven successful exits at an average gross MoM of 3.4x and IRR of 58% with $3bn+ of equity proceeds since 2023 amidst challenging market conditions. Previously, David was a Managing Director/Partner of Oak Hill Partners. Over his career, he has served on the boards of over 50 companies in a broad range of industries within the business services, consumer, healthcare, industrial growth, and technology solutions/services sectors. David’s current philanthropic activities are focused on U.S. Veterans, foster care children, wildlife conservation, and global climate change. David earned a BA, JD, and MBA from Stanford University.
