
David Steinbach is the Global Chief Investment Officer and a Managing Partner at Hines, where he leads the firm’s global investment strategy and capital allocation across all 31 countries and product types. He is a member of the firm’s Management, Executive, and Investment Committees, playing a key role in shaping the firm’s long-term vision. Since joining Hines in 1999, David has played a pivotal role in transforming the company into a top-tier global investment manager. He led the creation and scaling of Hines’ flagship discretionary funds, growing the platform to over $30 billion in AUM and expanding its institutional and private wealth investor base. During his tenure, Hines has navigated multiple real estate cycles and grown from $10 billion to over $93 billion in AUM (as of June 30, 2024), becoming one of the most trusted names in private real estate. He oversees the firm’s investment professionals across the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, and is responsible for ensuring investment discipline, innovation, and impact on behalf of Hines’ global investor clients. David is a sought-after speaker and media contributor, regularly appearing on CNBC, Bloomberg, and at leading industry forums to discuss the future of investing, capital markets, and sustainable urban development. Outside of Hines, David serves on the Executive Board of Fast Company. He and his wife, Rebecca, have endowed two college scholarships for first-generation students pursuing degrees in business or public health, and have long championed various initiatives supporting foster care and adoption. David holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Texas A&M University.
