Hisham Hamdan

Chief Investment Officer, Khazanah Nasional Berhad

Hisham Hamdan is the Chief Investment Officer of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, Malaysia's sovereign wealth fund. He has over 30 years of working experience in senior leadership and board roles. His expertise spans a variety of corporate structures encompassing business in various sectors and multiple countries. He joined Khazanah in April 2011 from Sime Darby Berhad, a Malaysian conglomerate. Since 2018, he has served as Head of Public Markets in Khazanah, which has a mandate to invest in more than 10 countries world wide. He also serves as Chairman of UEM Sunrise, a Malaysian property development company, and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Khazanah Research Institute, a policy research institute. Prior to Public Markets, he was responsible for Auto, Agrifood, and Iskandar Malaysia in Khazanah's portfolio and served as Executive Director of Research. During his tenure at Sime Darby, he served in various capacities covering strategy, business development, healthcare, energy, and utilities and China. He holds two degrees in Chemical Engineering and Industrial Management from Purdue University. He has also attended the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.
