
Jeannie Annan, PhD, is the Chief Research and Innovation Officer at the International Rescue Committee (IRC), where she leads efforts to design, test, and scale breakthrough solutions for people affected by conflict and disaster and the sector at large. She co-founded the IRC’s Airbel Impact Lab to harness research and innovation together to dramatically increase the impact, cost-effectiveness, and reach of humanitarian interventions. Dr. Annan’s own research focuses on economic, behavioral, and mental health interventions to prevent violence and reduce its psychological and social impacts, particularly on women and children. Her work includes studies on women’s economic programs, school-based social emotional learning, mental health support, and parenting and couples' interventions in countries such as Uganda, DRC, Liberia, and Syria. She is a Senior Research Associate at the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy and a research affiliate at Innovations for Poverty Action. Dr. Annan holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Indiana University-Bloomington and completed postdoctoral work at Yale and NYU.
