Lukasz Budzynski

Global Head, Pension Advisory, Sanofi

As Global Head of Pension Advisory at Sanofi, Lukasz Budzynski manages $20+ billion in assets across multiple schemes in seven countries and four continents. In a pension CIO role, he leads investment strategy for group DB, DC and Savings Plans allocated to 100+ strategies in public and private markets with 50+ investment firms. He built and leads a multinational expert team and oversees a complex global pension governance organization. Lukasz has successfully pooled assets globally, transitioned from DB to DC environments, and executed pension risk transfers that reduced legacy liabilities by 40%, including a recent full buy-in of multibillion UK pension schemes. He currently focuses on integrating AI throughout the pension and investment value chain. He serves as director at Ireland's largest captive P&C insurance company and a Luxembourg-based employee benefits reinsurance firm. From 2013-2024, Lukasz advised EIOPA, the EU regulator, on pension policy and co-founded XBUG, a working group of Europe's largest cross-border pension funds. Previously, Lukasz worked in risk and liquidity management in Sanofi Treasury and at PwC conducting insurance audits. Educated in Poland, Germany, and the US, he holds a Master's in International Trade and is a CFA and FRM charterholder. Lukasz is fluent in English, German, Polish and French. Passionate about navigating complex financial landscapes, he is currently engaged in leveraging technology for more sustainable and efficient pension and investment management.
