Philip Bennett

Senior Adviser to the President, Former First Vice President, EBRD

Philip Bennett has more than 40 years of experience in the global financial markets and in the management of international commercial and public sector financial institutions. He has extensive experience in investing, financing and advisory services across the global emerging and frontier markets. Mr. Bennett retired in 2018 as First Vice President (#2 position) and Chief Operating Officer at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the MDB focused on private sector investment across 38 economies across 3 continents. In that role, he was responsible for all client relationships, new investments ($50bln over 5 years) and portfolio ($60bln). Prior to EBRD, Mr. Bennett worked at Citigroup/Salomon Brothers in New York and London for 30 years where he held a variety of leadership positions in Global Capital Markets and Investment Banking and had a particular focus on global emerging and frontier markets. Most recently, Mr. Bennett has remained active as the Chairman of the International Chernobyl Cooperation Account, the Senior Advisor to the President of EBRD (with a particular focus on Ukraine reconstruction issues), a Board Director for S&P Global Ratings, a Board Director for Convergence (the global network for blended-finance), a Senior Advisor to Endeavor Global (the EM-focused high-impact entrepreneur network). Mr. Bennett is a graduate of the University of Chicago (M.B.A.), Princeton University (M.P.A.) and the University of North Carolina (B.A.).
