
Roland Lescure, born on November 26, 1966, in Paris, is a French economist and politician. He currently serves as Vice-President of the French National Assembly and represents French citizens living in the United States and Canada.He graduated from École Polytechnique (class of 1987), the École nationale de la statistique et de l'administration économique (ENSAE) in 1992, and holds a master’s degree in economics from the London School of Economics. Lescure began his career in the French public sector, working at the Ministry of Economy and Finance and at INSEE, before transitioning to the financial sector with leadership roles at Groupama and Natixis. In 2009, he moved to Canada, becoming Chief Investment Officer at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), one of the world’s largest public investment funds.He entered politics with Emmanuel Macron’s movement, La République En Marche! (LREM), and was elected to the National Assembly in 2017 to represent French citizens in North America. As Chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee, he helped shape key economic policies. In July 2022, he was appointed Minister Delegate for Industry under Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne, working closely with the Ministry for the Economy. His portfolio expanded in February 2024 to include energy, with a focus on decarbonizing industrial sites and supporting businesses facing high energy costs. In July 2024, Lescure was re-elected to the National Assembly in a by-election and became Vice-President of the National Assembly.
