Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis is a distinguished leader in higher education, known for her transformative leadership, strategic vision, and unwavering commitment to student success. She currently serves as the President of Benedict College, making history as the first woman to lead the institution. Prior to this role, she was the first woman President of Florida Memorial University. Dr. Artis is a trailblazer in academia, recognized for her expertise in institutional advancement, governance, and student-focused initiatives. Under her leadership, Benedict College has seen remarkable growth in academic programming, student success, financial stability, and community engagement. She is a passionate advocate for ensuring that historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) continue to thrive and impact future generations. A strong proponent of global learning, Dr. Artis champions international education opportunities that expose students to diverse cultures, perspectives, and global career pathways. She has actively worked to expand study abroad programs, international partnerships, and global exchange initiatives, ensuring that students are equipped to compete in an increasingly interconnected world. A licensed attorney, Dr. Artis holds a Juris Doctor degree from West Virginia University College of Law, an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership and Policy from Vanderbilt University, and a baccalaureate degree in political science from West Virginia State University.
