Mr. Cheung is the Chairman of Averest Capital Group and co-founder of VSPO. Mr. Cheung is an angel investor and venture builder with over 20 years’ experience in the investment, corporate finance and banking industries.
He has invested in 40 start-ups in the technology, biotech, medical equipment and services, internet, fintech and media industries. Mr. Cheung works closely with entrepreneurs and provides strategic advice, international experience, finance and fundraising expertise to help corporates to grow and become a leader in their respective industries.
Mr. Cheung is also the co-founder/founding partner of VSPO, Likang Life Science, Hero Games, DIB and All Football. Other noticeable investments include Alibaba, CMC/Tencent Music, Huayiwang and Ele.me. Mr. Cheung has advised and assisted VSPO in the $265m landmark investment by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund-backed Savvy Games Group in 2023.
Before founding Averest Capital Group, Mr. Cheung was Managing Director, Global Banking and Chief Representative, HSBC (Securities Business) Beijing Representative Office and was responsible for business origination in the PRC, including IPOs and other equity related products, M&A advisory, and high yield bond issuance.
Mr. Cheung was appointed as Justice of the Peace in 2019 and awarded the Medal of Honour in 2014 for his public and community service by the Government of Hong Kong.
