Pablo Zárate is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting based in Houston and Mexico City. He advises investors, companies, and trade associations in Mexico and Latin America – predominantly in the energy, infrastructure, and industrials sectors – on the development and execution of integrated stakeholder risk management programs, from political and regulatory to reputational and societal. His public affairs practice covers corporate events throughout the entire lifecycle of investments, from front-end development, market entry, and M&A to preservation of social license to operate, value defense efforts, and commercial & investment disputes. Mr. Zárate founded FTI’s Strategic Communications practice in Mexico City in 2015, after joining the firm in Washington D.C. As country head, he led the development of a multidisciplinary team of practitioners that advises on and executes stakeholder analysis and stakeholder management programs during some of the largest policy & regulatory developments, investment decisions and disputes/crisis during the last decade in Mexico. Before joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Zárate served as a government official, advising two Mexican cabinet agency heads and as a political consultant, advising governments and incumbents at the municipal and state level in Mexico on communications. Mr. Zarate writes a weekly column in El Economista, focusing on energy policy and is a recurrent guest in some of the leading radio and TV news analysis and opinion shows in Mexico.
