Raul Martinez-Ostos is Chairman of the Board and CEO for Mexico at Barclays, a position he has occupied since 2012. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing all of the firm’s business activities and regulatory issues in Mexico. He also serves as Vice President of the Mexican Bankers Association. In addition to his role in Mexico, in 2022 he was appointed CEO of Barclays in Latin America. Mr. Martinez-Ostos held various positions at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit of Mexico from 1999 to 2003; including spokesman for the Ministry of Finance under Secretary Francisco Gil Díaz, chief of staff of Agustín Carstens and Deputy General Director of Financial Planning. He began his career at the Economic Research Department at Banco de Mexico (Central Bank). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from ITAM where he graduated Summa Cum Laude, and as a Fulbright Scholar received two Master’s degrees in International and Development Economics and Business Administration from Yale University. Mr. Martinez-Osto sits on the board of directors of the Yale School of Management (SOM) and co-chairs the Mexican alumni board of SOM.
