Yasuhide Nakayama is a member of the House of Representatives of Japan, representing the Osaka 4th electoral district. He also is a former state minister for foreign affairs for Japan. In Parliament, Nakayama serves as director of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and senior director of the Special Committee on North Korean Abductions. He is also the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP)'s deputy chairman of the Research Commission on Security and deputy chairman of the Research Commission on Public Safety and Counter-Terrorism. He is also a visiting scholar at Brigham Young University, Hawaii. Previously, he served as parliamentary vice minister for foreign affairs, LDP's chief secretary of the Research Commission on Security and director of the LDP's national defense division. He received an M.A. from Waseda University and completed the Senior Political Leaders Development Program at Yale University.
