Charles joined AMEA in 2019, responsible for mergers and acquisitions, project finance and the financial functions of the company. He has 30 years’ experience in corporate finance, tax consulting, investment banking, project finance and proprietary project development. Following a 12 year  investment banking career in project finance, Charles founded and was the CEO of BioTherm Energy in 2003, which is an African renewable energy development platform. It is one of South Africa’s leading renewable energy developers and was the first Independent Power Producer in South Africa. BioTherm Energy was acquired by Denham Capital in 2008. Following the acquisition, he continued developing and owning power projects in Africa until joining AMEA Power in 2019. He holds Bachelors and Honours degrees in Investment Management, a post graduate diploma in taxation law and a MBA from Edinburgh Business School.
