From a very young age, Didier’s parents instilled community life in him. Having growing up in a large family, he was able very early to develop values of respect for others, sharing and mutual aid that helped shape the person that he is today. As a child, he always had an obvious fascination for football. He was offered an opportunity to go and live in France with his uncle Michel Goba, himself a professional footballer, and allowed his dream of professionally playing football to take shape. In 1987, just nine years old, Didier joined a real soccer team for the first time. At that time, he was far from suspecting the turn of events that would take place. From Dunkirk to Phoenix Rising, via Le Mans, Guingamp, Marseille, the famous Chelsea team, the Ivorian national team, of which he was the captain, the Shanghai Shenhua, Galatasaray, and of course the Impact from Montreal, he had the career he had always dreamed of.
