William Ford is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Atlantic. Mr. Ford brings over three decades of experience investing in and helping build leading growth companies. Under Mr. Ford’s leadership, General Atlantic has expanded its global presence, increased its capital base, and deepened its capabilities to identify and partner with high-potential growth companies across multiple business sectors and geographies.Mr. Ford joined General Atlantic in 1991 and became Chief Executive Officer in 2007. Mr. Ford is the Chair of the Firm’s Management Committee and is a member of its Investment and Portfolio Committees. Mr. Ford is involved with a number of educational and not-for-profit organizations. He serves as Chair of The Rockefeller University, and sits on the boards of BlackRock, the Global Private Capital Association (GPCA), the McKinsey Advisory Council, and The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (where he serves as the Chair of the Digital Initiatives Committee). Mr. Ford is also active in business education. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Tsinghua University’s School of Economics and Management, a Trustee at the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS), and formerly served as the Vice Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is also on the Executive Committee for the Partnership for New York City (formerly served as Co-Chair). Mr. Ford is also a member of the board of The Business Council, the Council on Foreign Relations, New York State Life Science Advisory Board, and the Steering Committee for The CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion. Prior to joining General Atlantic, Mr. Ford worked at Morgan Stanley as an investment banker. He received a B.A. in Economics from Amherst College and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
